Peter made an amazing confession, that Jesus was the Christ, the Messiah. Jesus turned right around and told the disciples things that would happen that directly contradicted what they thought the Bible said about the Messiah. Jesus taught Peter and us: don't be so convinced you know exactly what the Bible says. We consider Matthew 16:13-23.
