The Last Word on Evil

10 August 2025

Sometimes life shakes us.

  • A phone call in the middle of the night.

  • A troubling headline.

  • A doctor’s report.

We know that moment when our hearts leap into our throats and we wonder, Who can stand in times like these?

That same question echoes from Revelation 6:17, when the early Christians faced loss, danger, and uncertainty: “The great day of their wrath has come. Who can stand?”

John’s vision in Revelation doesn’t pretend evil isn’t real. It is. But he shows us that evil is not in charge. The Lamb reigns. And those sealed as His own can stand, not through their own strength, but through His.

In the vision of Revelation 7, John sees “a countless multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language… never to hunger or thirst again… and God will wipe every tear from their eyes.” That’s not a promise that suffering won’t come. It’s a promise that we belong to the Lamb in the midst of it.

As I shared in the sermon:

“Faith is not about believing. Even the demons believe. Faith is about trust… We are sealed. We will stand. And because we trust, we can keep serving, keep loving, and keep living.”

May this week find us rooted in that trust, steady in hope, and faithful in love—knowing evil is real, but not final.
